The two orphaned fawns are back! Mommy called me when she pulled in the driveway to come out with my camera. They were across the street and looked right at us.. then one actually started walking TOWARDS me! Once they got to the mailbox everyone else came out and mommy threw them some lettuce. I think they got spooked with 5 people staring at them so they started to walk away. We went in the house and they stood there staring back out the house for like 10 minutes! But OMG they are SOOO tiny! And they look so soft. awww. :) PS- my finger is in the bottom pic for comparison, they were THAT close!

OMG Corina, they look really young, they may not be fully weaned yet and need milk. I'm so worried about them. They can't defend agains preditors either, they're babies. If you were close, I'd take them. There must be someone you can call, awwwww.
Still here. Geez. If they got that close to you and approached you, they need something. I think they need milk.
Sorry to be a pain..I looked it up. Those fawns are young, I can tell by looking at them. The websites say their rumen may not be fully functional, which means they can eat vegetation but, won't get enough nutrients without mothers milk and may die of starvation. Oh, man. They don't do cows milk well so if you try to feed them, give them watery canned milk. If you can coax them close with milk, I have a good recipe I use on mamals that mimics mothers milk. Let me know. They break my heart.
I'd love the recipe if you have it!! I could leave it out.. they've been here for a few weeks without their mother. I may be able to call the zoo. I know the police department knows about them because they chased them off into the woods one day so they wouldn't get hit by cars. I think they're too cautious for me to take them in at this point. Thanks for the info. :)
